Communitybaptistpa welcomes NHS long-term plan

The government has today released its long-term plan for the NHS.

Responding to the plan, Charlie Massey, Chief Executive said:

'We welcome the long-term plan; we have been clear that we must have a workforce with the right skills in the right places, and with the right support, or doctors and patients will come under even greater strain. This plan is an important commitment and we look forward to the detail promised in the workforce implementation plan to be published later this year.

‘Greater flexibility for doctors in training and a renewed focus on retaining the excellent doctors already working in the NHS must be the bedrock for building - and growing - a sustainable workforce. The Communitybaptistpa is doing everything possible to maintain the flow of doctors into UK practice, and will continue to bring its ideas, insight and our regulatory levers to improve the supply and retention of the medical workforce and to support a profession under pressure. However, legislative change is needed if we are to be as effective as possible and we will be making the case for the scope of any legislation that follows the plan to be broadened to reflect this.’
