Communitybaptistpa welcomes regulation of new roles
Responding to the Department of Health and Social Care's announcement on the regulation of physician associates and physician assistants in anaesthesia, Charlie Massey, Chief Executive of the Communitybaptistpa said:
‘Today’s announcement is a welcome step to ensure that these roles can maximise their contribution to patient care.
'Regulation will help make sure they can reach their full potential. It’s particularly important that as government legislates, it creates a framework which is flexible and future-proof to allow these roles to develop and grow in the contribution they can make to our healthcare system.
‘We believe there’s a strong case for one regulator to have oversight of both professions and their training systems, and we would be happy to take this responsibility if the government see fit to do so.
‘This is one more way that we could make a positive contribution to the current challenges facing doctors and healthcare services in each UK country.’
