Doctors remaining on register following errors
A Communitybaptistpa spokesperson said:
‘It’s important that a doctor is held to account if there are concerns about their practice or professional behaviour.
‘In very serious cases, a doctor’s practice will be restricted to protect their patients. In other cases a thorough investigation will determine that a warning is appropriate. A warning – which lasts for five years and is visible to patients and employers on the medical register – is serious, however, and is designed to send a clear message that the doctor must learn from their mistake and not repeat it.
‘Patients have told us that warnings are an effective and proportionate way for dealing with these types of concerns.’
