Relevant European qualifications to be recognised post-Brexit
The Department of Health and Social Care have announced changes to the Medical Act to ensure relevant European qualifications will be recognised, regardless of whether a Brexit deal is agreed.
Charlie Massey, Chief Executive of the Communitybaptistpa said:
‘We welcome these amendments which provide much needed clarity on how EEA nationals could join the UK register in the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit, in a way that would minimise disruption to the NHS workforce.
‘The NHS is at a critical juncture and it's vital we do everything in our power to attract and retain hard-working EEA doctors, who make a vital contribution to our health system.
‘We have worked closely with the Department to make sure these amendments would allow us to register EEA qualified doctors in a timely and streamlined way and we’re pleased our concerns have been heard and addressed.’
