The new data protection law is in effect
Today, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect, replacing the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA).
While there will be some changes to the way we all handle personal data, the GDPR builds on foundations which we’ve all been following for the last 20 years.
We handle personal information with the utmost care and we’re committed to keeping it secure. You can read more about how we do this in our updated privacy and cookies page.
If you’re a doctor, it’s important you know what the GDPR means for you and your day to day practice. We’ve made some updates to our Confidentiality guidance, to make sure it’s consistent with the new law. You can find a summary of the updates in our online learning materials, and you can read the full guidance on our Confidentiality page.
